 Way To Ghale Gaun

To reach Ghale gaun you can get vehicle at Balaju buspark in Kathmandu to Besisahar. There are vehicles which link Pokhara, Chitwan with Besisahar as well. It will take 6 hours drive to reach Besisahar from Kathmandu. There are some Lodges at Besisahar but Hotal Tukuche is good for accommodation with attached bathroom and wide dinning room. You can leave your private vehicle there as well. You can choose either to hike or  take jeep to Ghale gaun. It will take 7 to 8 hours by foot and 4 hours by jeep. But i recommend you to choose to hike as the way is full of scenery and adventure. The road is not pitched so it is quite dangerous to travel by jeep. You have to uphill to Baglung Pani  from where you have great view of Besisahar and Marsayandi River. Then the way is straight for 3 hours. You will pass from Kapur gaun where most of the people are Gurung with rich in culture. Kapur gaun is a beautiful village where you can stay for night as well. You need to walk up hill before reaching Ghale gaun for 45 minuate. To return you can take the same route back or continue to  Bhujung  and  trek to pokhara as well.

Things to see

As you reach Ghale gaun, the scenic extravaganza of mountains such as Manaslu, Fishtail, Annapurna and Kanchanjunga catches your eyes as the rays of setting sun reflecting over mountains makes it more beautiful. The old traditional houses of Ghale gaun, gurungseni decorated in gurung dress will give you the flavour of Ghale gaun. As you enter the Ghale gaun contemplating  about the charisma of the village, you will be warmly welcomed by the oldest member of the village( usually women) in their traditional dress with white rice tika and garland. Spring and autumn season is best for tour but you can come at anytime. The winter is too cold with snowfall. You will see traditional gurung museum, small beautiful tea garden, Uttar Kanya Mandir Temple and traditional gurung dance with camp fire every night. Honey hunting site is also nearby Ghale gaun at Ghanpokhara. Ghale gaun is best destination for learning about lifestype and culture of ghale gurung and stunning view of Himalayan range as well.
