Located at the upper george of Kali Gandaki with the majestic view of Annapurna to the east and Dhaulagiri to the west, Thak khola is a beautiful village with an altitude of 6000ft. The caravan route through Thak khola was important link connecting Nepal and Tibet ecologically as transit zone for exchanging Tibetan salt and Nepalese food grains. Thakali are the indigenous of Thak khola from centuries. It is great destination for trekkers and reacher as the history of Thak khola is very old from 5th century.

What you can see
Thakali are originated from Thak khola, the valey of kali gandaki in western part of Nepal. Thakali are influenced by both Buddhist and Hindu religion. On the way to Thak khola, you will see Historic place Dana, known as tax collection centre at the time of Tibetan salt trade.You will pass through Larjung, with the majestic view of Dhaulagiri and Marpha where you can have a look of Chairo gompa, the oldest gompa of this region. The narrow flagstone-laid way,flat roof of houses with piles of wood lining and apple trees of Marpha will take you to different world. You will be blessed with one of the most awesome sight of Jomsom with Mt. Nilgiri rising above it.
